Gurugram, 20th June 2016 — Freshly brewed beer and music proved to be the perfect combination to beat the summer heat as The Beer Week, powered by Zomato, took over the city in a spirited celebration of craft beer culture. Held from 11th to 18th June 2016, the weeklong festival brought together thousands of craft beer lovers and food enthusiasts across Gurugram for a unique and unforgettable tippling experience. Over 20 breweries and bars participated, offering beer crawls, tasting sessions, and masterclasses designed to educate guests about the fine art of craft beer. The celebration kicked off with an opening party at The Brewhouse, Fortune Select Excalibur on Sohna Road, followed by three energetic beer crawls that led guests through Gurugram’s top breweries. Participants enjoyed tastings of various craft beers, received complimentary beer mugs and snacks, and were shuttled by Ola Shuttle, evoking nostalgic memories of their school days. Masterclasses conducted by Ishan Grover, Thean Leonard Kruger, and John Eapen explored various beer styles including barley, wheat, corn, rice, and rye.
Following two successful editions of Cocktail Week in Delhi and Mumbai, AMM Hospitality launched Gurugram’s first Beer Week with the support of partners including India Bartender’s Guild, My Sprinterz, What’s Hot, Elixir Coterie, Insider.in, Dilsefoodie, Ola Prime, Suburb Magazine, and more. Participating venues included Molecule, Hops & Brew, The Brewhouse, Lagom Kitchen & Brewery, Manhattan, and Vapour. Throughout the week, guests enjoyed 1+1 on craft and draught beers across 24 venues, and more than 120 pub hoppers participated in the three major beer crawls covering Golf Course Road, Cyber Hub, Sector 29, and Sohna Road. A special masterclass and brewery tour at 7 Degree Brauhaus added an educational flavor to the event, and the ‘Most Innovative Beermaster Competition’ held at Molecule saw 18 bartenders from Delhi NCR compete with their original creations.
Archit Singhal, Founder and CEO of Beer Week, expressed gratitude to the people of Gurugram and all event partners, stating that the event drew over 120 beer crawlers, 15+ bartenders in the competition, and 700+ band holders who availed up to 50% off on craft beer throughout the week. To top it off, Beer Week introduced The Best Craft Beer Awards for Gurugram, judged on authenticity and flavor. The winners included: Brewer Street (Best Light Lager/Ale), 7 Degree Brauhaus (Best Hefe/Wit), Vapour Bar & Exchange (Best Dark – Porter/Stout), and Quaff (Best IPA). Gurugram’s first Beer Week raised a toast to the rising craft beer culture in India, delivering a memorable and flavorful celebration that’s set the tone for many more to come.
